Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp is currently the only former German Nazi camp included to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. The Polish town Oswięcim in the vicinity of Krakow houses this big memorial.
It is divided into 2 camps: Auschwitz-Birkenau I and Birkenau II. They both produce the existent testimony of the malice of Nazi strategy and also inconceivable pain of not less than 1 million people. Great number of them were of Jewish descent. They were brutally murdered in gas chamber.
Some other died due to hunger, heavy toil or risky surgical experiments they underwent.
